This ignores the prep time that goes into meal #2. For someone just getting off a ten hour shift, going through a KFC drive-thru and getting a fully prepared meal is so much more convenient.

I’d rather cook the meal and feed my body right (for a few days, at that) than support animal cruelty and poison myself.

I’m not sure how buying Tyson chicken does anything to help animals, but I’m glad you have the privilege to be able to make that choice. Not everyone does though.

It’s hard to pass up the dollar menu when you are living in poverty and work full-time and have children to feed on $15.

UGH AT SANCTIMONIOUS PRIVILEGE DENIERS WHO SAY SHIT LIKE IDEASANDOPINIONS.

LOL $2 FOR A GALLON OF SKIM MILK?
Yeah, maybe in 2001, but it’s TWICE that today.
Total bullshit. It’s expensive to eat healthy and those that don’t realize how hard it is to do so are ignorant or privileged beyond belief.

I am like, ugly laughing at “animal cruelty,” like the store-bought is better.  Tyson supplies KFC, bro.

Can you please take me to the store where I can get 2lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast for $1.96?

If you’ll just hop in my TARDIS, ma’am, so we can go back to the 80s?
Newsflash for the person who doesn’t want to contribute to animal cruelty by buying KFC: If you’re buying meat at the rates given in the above graphic (which, um, no longer exist because it’s not 1985 anymore), I can guarantee you that chicken suffered just as much as the one that got sacrificed to KFC.

In what world does 2 pounds of chicken cost less than $2?
Food snobs can just go fuck themselves.

Ugh, privilege denying. Being vegan I would advocate limiting the animal products in your diet. But this comparison that constantly goes around? It fails on so many fucking levels. Not only does it not take into consideration time to prepare food but it also doesn’t take into account for disabilities. If you’re disabled wtf are you going to do with some raw fucking chicken and potatoes? Whereas its much easier to eat ready made food. Or even just taking allergies into account. Picture two is pretty dairy heavy for someone who’s lactose intolerant whereas the KFC meal has miniscule amounts in the cole slaw (if any) and a tiny bit in the potatoes, which a person could sub with the french fries instead even. And then there’s the matter of pricing too like everyone brought up. This comparison is disingenuous in that it appears that if nothing else they’re going by in season prices for produce. Peaches and corn are cheaper in the summer time whereas the rest of the year they’re much more expensive. Whereas the prices for KFC, except for the occasional corporate raise are pretty much static throughout the year. So yeah, thanks sparkpeople from approaching this topic from the entirely wrong angle.
